Heartland

I raise geese on my little farm. Not only are they fun to watch, but they are great protectors of my chicken flock, they keep the roosters in line and they are the best watch dogs! So, when I saw this goose stamp in the Heartland Cling Mount Stampin’ Up stamp set, I knew I had to create a card with it! I hope you like it and will give it a try. If you are in need of Stampin’ Up supplies and don’t have a demonstrator, I’d be honored if you’d select me, Julie Fuller, as your demonstrator, and if your order is under $150 please use the Host Code located in the upper right hand corner of this Farm Card blog page.

To begin with, I cut a piece of Whisper White Thick card stock 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” and scored it at 4 1/4” for my card base. I then cut a piece of Smoky Slate card stock 5 1/4” x 4” and used the Pinewood Plank Embossing Folder to give this piece a wood grain texture. I lightly inked the raised side of the embossing folder with Smoky Slate ink, put my piece of Smoky Slate card stock on top, closed the folder and ran it through the Big Shot. This technique highlights the wood grain just a touch.

components of card next to finished card

I die cut a piece of Whisper White card stock using the largest square from the Stitched Shapes Dies. I stamped my geese image on this piece using Smoky Slate ink. I then colored the scene using the Stampin’ Up Blends in Light Old Olive, Light Smoky Slate, Light and Dark Crumb Cake, Light Night of Navy and Dark Balmy Blue. I die cut Night of Navy card stock using the the middle two square framelits in the Stitched Shapes Die set. I nested them so that I had one solid square and one frame. I used the Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut the pieces for my sentiment which I stamped in Smoky Slate ink.

card ready to be assembled

I assembled the card using tape and Mini Dimensionals to pop-up the sentiment and stamped geese image. Last but not least, I added a few Happiness Blooms enamel dots for just that added extra!
